Originally Atta Parish was made up of four towns - Atta, Ngugo, Iho and Umudim. On December 25, 1984, St. Patrick Ngugo was carved out from St. Michael's Atta; in January 1990, St. Mary's Iho became a parish. On April 27, 1999 St. Paul's Umudim followed and on March 20, 2008, Atta gave birth to her 4th child, St. Mary's Ogada.
The remains of Pa Anthony Onyemesim Iheakanwa, an educationist and distinguished community leader were buried last Saturday in his country home, Ntu Atta in Ikeduru LGA of Imo State.
